We find that with data bearing assets storage is the most difficult part when trying to keep assets safe, smaller companies may not have enough for a large IT asset recycling collection. A centralised point in the office, warehouse or comms room which data bearing assets can be stored makes the process a lot simpler.
Data Destruction Methods Which Fit With Your Organisations Policies
When an exchange is made from your Databox, you have the following options:
Data destruction, reporting & certificate – Assets are collected from your site and processed back at our secure facility using data destruction methods set-out in the supplied service agreement.
On-Site Data Shredding – We will arrive to your site with our purpose built vehicle, process and shred any data media on your premises, whilst providing you with a competent asset disposal report & certificate. (Additional fees may apply for this service)

Industry Leading Rebates Paid Back To You Organisation
Any assets which hold value and can be re-sold will be accessed for our rebate programme, this allows us to return value back to your organisation. For a large quantity of assets we would always recommend booking these direct with us to ensure the best return on value.
Once processed and you receive your report we’ll advise if rebates are possible of if any costs recovered can be returned to your organisation

How it Works
Roll-Out
Step 1: Enquiry & Requirements
On contact we will access your requirements and advise if we believe Databox will work from you, we will need a list of how many sites you will require Databox to be installed.
Step 2: Roll-Out Plan
We will work closely with your organisation to create a plan of installation to ensure that the Databox causes as little disruption as possible. Each Databox will be assembled and installed on-site.
Step 3: Installation
We will travel to each site and install Databox as required. Each site will be given a key to allow easy secure access and to ensure items which are placed inside the DataBox are compliant.
Step 4: Relax
Sit back and know that your data bearing assets & media have a secure storage location and will be processed by Chaps IT Recycling LTD, with the added bonus that there may be a possible rebate for your old IT equipment & you know your organisation has done its part for the environment.
Exchange
Step 1: Initial 6 Month Exchange
Once installed on-site your first 6 month exchange will be booked automatically.
Step 2: Data Destruction Methods
Once an exchange is booked you have the option of having facility data destruction (which is completely GDPR and DPA compliant) or the on-site shredding option which may incur additional costs.
Step 3: Exchange
Further exchanges can be booked using the email or via our online customer portal. We will travel to site and securely empty each Databox, ensure these are sealed and safely transported to our facility.
Step 4: Reporting, Certificates & Payment
You will receive a detailed report of secure data destruction including secure data destruction certificate. At this point we will advise if a rebate was possible on the collected assets.

March 7, 2025** Poor Customer Service ** We was hoping to have a future relation with this company to help build our small computer business as the products which they sold seemed... read more to good and was affordable priced for us to make a profit when resold - we ordered a job lot of laptops from a known auction site, all was going well until we had a serious issue with one of the laptops, which resulted in a fire, thankfully no one was hurt or further damage occurred, we issued a replacement laptop immediately and the customer was happy - We spoke to this company to ask for a bit of funds back to cover loss of the fire damaged laptop and the costs lost on the replacement, their response to this was unacceptable, they took no responsibility for this matter, our main upset was about the customers ordeal, could of gone a lot worse, (house fire, or worse death) they said these laptops are sold as seen with no warranty, I understand the warranty issue as they are older laptops but with no help trying to sort this matter out was just wrong, their information page from the auction site stated all their products come with a 60 day guarantee and when mentioned this to them, they said that policy has changed and no longer support this, if that was the case then why was it up, we have lost a lot of respect for this company and will never be using them again - we are not writing this to slate this company in any way or form as we think they do an amazing job in recycling and reusing old tech instead of the products going to landfill, we have a strong heart in this ourselves and we do the same with our business, we are only writing this for awareness as they should of helped better with the situation
